One view is that a general inspection should be enough unless the drains show symptoms; the other is that an older house with mature trees nearby deserves a sewer check regardless. We have booked the main inspection for a 160 m² detached home in Auckland, but the private drain is outside its scope.
A full replacement has been estimated at NZ$59,400 if it proved necessary, while the camera inspection would cost much less. I am still trying to preserve money for the move, early repairs and the first mortgage payment rather than ordering every optional check. Would you first confirm the pipe material, route and access point, or is the age and tree location already sufficient reason to book the scope?
