Dublin property meetup — December 2024 date ideas?

I’m organising an informal Dublin property meetup in December 2024 and need to settle the format. Would an early weekday evening or a weekend session suit more people?

The rough agenda is Dublin market observations, financing, a worked deal analysis and a short round of practical questions. I’ll choose a central venue once we have a headcount, so please also mention any public transport, accessibility or budget requirements.

Interested. An early evening in the first half of December would work better for me than a weekend. Somewhere within an easy walk of several bus routes or a Luas stop would make attendance simpler; it needn’t be the most central or expensive room.

Could there be remote access for people who cannot get into Dublin that evening? Even audio would be useful. Also, will the deal analysis be based on a hypothetical property, or are you inviting attendees to bring examples?

I’d avoid promising a hybrid event unless the venue already makes it straightforward. A laptop at the end of a noisy table usually gives remote attendees a poor experience and distracts whoever is facilitating.

A better compromise might be an in-person discussion with questions accepted in advance. For the deal analysis, a fictional or anonymised example would let everyone discuss financing assumptions without exposing anyone’s private figures.

That’s fair about hybrid access. If remote participation is too awkward, a clearly timed agenda would still help people decide whether travelling is worthwhile. I’d allow more time for the worked example and keep general market observations fairly short.

Before choosing the venue, what size group are you expecting and will attendees pay toward the room? Capacity and cost could narrow the options quickly. Step-free access and a reasonably quiet space should be requirements rather than things checked after booking.

Weekend afternoons may be easier for anyone travelling from outside Dublin, but December weekends fill up quickly. My preference would still be a weekday from roughly early evening, with a firm finish time.

Perhaps collect one practical question from each attendee when they confirm. The organiser could group duplicates under financing, deal analysis and local market topics, which should stop the final round becoming repetitive.

Agree on staying in the first half of December. Later dates are likely to clash with other commitments, while an early-evening meeting still leaves weekends free. I’d be happy with a modest venue charge if it secures seating, low noise and accessible facilities, but the amount should be stated before confirmations are requested.

One more thought on the venue: proximity to public transport matters more than having a prestigious address. Could the organiser shortlist one weekday option and one weekend option, then ask interested people to choose between those rather than leaving the poll open-ended?

Count me as interested, with a preference for the weekday option. It would help to set an RSVP deadline before reserving anything, then keep a short waiting list if the room has limited capacity. Please include the venue cost, access details, nearest public transport and expected finish time in the final post.
