Could market boards be filtered by sold-price history?

I would like Athens threads containing completed-sale information to be easy to find. The obstacle is creating a useful filter without adding another compulsory step for every member who posts a general market question.

A free-form tag would be quick, but variations in wording could fragment the results and older threads would still need attention. My preference is an optional structured entry that feeds search and can later be added to worthwhile archive threads. If a post gives a specific transaction, the field could include the Athens area and sale period; if it only discusses general trends, it should remain unset. Would that distinction be practical on mobile?

I would use an optional structured field that feeds a search filter. A free-form tag will quickly split into variations such as “sold price,” “sale price,” and “completed sale.” Making it required would also create friction for members posting general Athens questions that have no transaction figure.

What would count as sold-price history here: an individual completed transaction, a member-reported figure, or a broader historical series? Without that distinction, the filter could return threads with very different levels of usefulness. At minimum, I think the entry needs a sale period and an Athens area alongside the amount.

I’m not convinced more fields automatically produce better comparisons. Athens posts may describe location and property differently, while other regional boards may need a different level of detail. If people enter partial or inconsistent information, the filter could imply precision that the discussions do not support. An optional field is sensible, but the thread should still explain what the number represents.

On mobile, this could sit behind a small “Add sale details” option rather than expanding the default posting form. Selecting it could reveal only the relevant entries. Moderators should not have to verify every figure; they could concentrate on merging duplicate tags and fixing obviously misplaced threads.

The optional-field approach seems the best compromise. It could power filtering without blocking ordinary posts, while the visible discussion provides the context ivan mentions. I would also avoid a full migration of old threads at launch. Let members or moderators add the field to particularly useful older Athens discussions over time, then assess whether the search results are consistent enough before extending the setup across every market board.
