After the deposit and estimated closing costs, we should have about €15,640 left for moving, furniture and surprises on a 3-bed apartment in Amsterdam. The mortgage payment is comfortable, and the apartment appears maintained, but an inspection cannot rule out every first-year expense.
Would you delay to build a larger reserve, or proceed and furnish gradually? I’m particularly trying to distinguish costs legally required for the Dutch purchase from what is simply personal risk tolerance.
